Identifying and Ranking the Dimensions of Empowering Knowledge-Based Businesses Based on a Mixed Approach - DEMATEL

Abstract

Knowledge-based companies are regarded as effective instruments for economic and social advancement, capable of playing a significant role in optimizing living conditions, work, and production, enhancing income levels, and improving the social status of society. Given the importance of this sector in Iran's economy, both from a theoretical perspective and in terms of its latent capabilities, identifying influential factors and methods to activate these potentials has become of paramount importance. Based on the purpose, this research is fundamental and from the point of view of how to collect information, it is a mixed (qualitative-quantitative) type of research. The qualitative part of this research was done using theme analysis. The statistical population in the qualitative section includes university professors and experts in the field of knowledge-based businesses in Ilam province, 15 people were selected using the purposeful sampling method until reaching theoretical saturation. The statistical population of the quantitative part includes all employees of knowledge-based businesses in Ilam province (N = 315), which was selected using simple random sampling method and Cochran's formula in the number of 173 people. A semi-structured interview and a researcher-made questionnaire were used to collect data, which has face validity. Based on the findings in this research, 47 categories have been identified and presented in the format of 4 categories (managerial, socio-cultural, personality and educational factors), which have the greatest impact on empowering knowledge-based businesses in Ilam province related to the managerial factor and the lowest impact among the 4 identified factors is related to the personality factor.
