Abstract

Errors are an integral part of organizational life, and it is almost impossible to completely eliminate all types of organizational errors. To maintain a competitive position in a dynamic global environment, organizations must encourage their employees to learn and innovate through their errors. Error management is considered as one of the fundamental dimensions of the leadership role. Just as other classic skills are attributed to leaders, error management should also be part of their duties. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of error management on entrepreneurial orientation by considering the mediating role of ambidextrous leadership. This study is applied in terms of purpose, quantitative in nature, and descriptive-survey in terms of method. The statistical population includes all employees of knowledge-based companies in Yazd, which was 1500 people based on available information. Considering the use of structural equation modeling (SEM) in data analysis, the sample size was estimated at 200 people, but in order to increase accuracy, 240 questionnaires were collected from the statistical population using convenience sampling. A standard questionnaire was used to collect data. The validity of the questionnaire was examined and confirmed through content validity and construct validity, and reliability through Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data analysis was also carried out through SEM using SPSS20 and Lisrel10.2 software. According to the findings, error management has a direct effect on entrepreneurial orientation and also indirectly affects it through ambidextrous leadership, meaning that ambidextrous leadership plays a mediating role. These results are important because they provide new insight into the implementation of a strategic error management approach in organizations. They also emphasize the importance of a constructive approach to errors and show that leaders must have a positive and constructive attitude towards errors in order to develop an error management culture in their organizations. This research has practical recommendations for policymakers and planners.
