Identifying the Antecedents and Consequences of Strategic Thinking in the Border Region Problem-Solving System with Emphasis on Entrepreneurship and Employment (Case Study: Sistan and Baluchestan Province)

Abstract

Strategic thinking, as a key tool in solving complex problems, plays a significant role in shaping sustainable development and entrepreneurship. The present study was conducted with the aim of identifying the antecedents and consequences of strategic thinking in the problem-solving system of border regions, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and employment (case study: Sistan and Baluchestan Province). This research is applied in terms of its objective and, in terms of data collection method, falls under exploratory research, being a mixed-methods study with an inductive-deductive philosophy. The statistical population of the research consists of academic experts and economic specialists active in the fields of strategic thinking, issues of the Sistan and Baluchestan border region, and entrepreneurship and employment in this region, who were selected using the snowball sampling method and based on the principle of theoretical saturation. The data collection tool in the qualitative section was interviews, and in the quantitative section, it was questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis, and quantitative data were analyzed using the fuzzy cognitive map method. The results of this research indicate that the insular performance and parallel work of relevant agencies in the field of employment in border regions, with a centrality degree of 17.7, and the increase in national production in border regions and the creation of export opportunities, with a centrality degree of 7.42, have been identified as the most important antecedent and consequence, respectively, of strategic thinking in the problem-solving system of border regions, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and employment.
