Abstract

Social entrepreneurs are people who are trying to create an effective and positive effect on society. They are not only looking for financial gain but also trying to solve social and infrastructure issues. In this study, the production process and new initiatives by social entrepreneurs have been investigated. This issue is of special importance because social entrepreneurs with their business approach, in addition to producing economic value, seek to create social value in line with the realization of social welfare and environmental sustainability. Therefore, this research seeks to answer the question, how are social entrepreneurial initiatives formed? Based on the methodology of the current qualitative research approach and using the foundation's grounded theory method, a semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted with 12 social entrepreneurs in 2023 during a period of 5 months in Kashan city with a targeted sampling method. The data were analyzed based on the method of Glaser and Strauss in three stages of coding. Subsequently, 140 concepts were identified and extracted in open coding, 21 categories in axial coding, and 5 selective categories in selective coding. Based on the findings, the central phenomenon of "trend and production and new initiatives of social entrepreneurs" is formed in the causal conditions of "prosperity and progress" and along with the contextual conditions of "social investment" and the intervening conditions of "lack of equality and lack of access to essential resources". It has led to the adoption of strategies such as "innovation and development" in social entrepreneurs, which ultimately ends in the result of "development of social entrepreneurship". This research brings practical suggestions for policymakers and planners in the field of the subject under study.
